The Zimbabwean stand was aglow with golden shirts inscripted GotoVictoriaFalls.com that were the uniform for the exhibiting Zimbabwean delegation.
Over 30 companies that included Shearwater, Zimsun, Rainbow Tourism Group and many others rallied along the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority and the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) in the fight to place Zimbabwean tourism in its rightful place, number one in Africa. To cap the participation, the delegation also included the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment as well as Mitchell Makanza, the first runner up to Miss Tourism Zimbabwe!
The stand was one of the best Zimbabwean stands that ever graced this show and indeed this was one of Zimbabwe’s best displays in any market in recent years. In fact, the organizers could not ignore the splendour of the display and they obliged by awarding the country a bronze medal.
Consistently, the thousands of visitors to the Zimbabwean stand remarked that Zimbabwe had one of the best stands at the fair and they also commented on the very high level of organisation of tourism operations in Zimbabwe. Most commented on the high level of safety in the country and all of the visitors were overawed by the impressions of the Mighty Victoria Falls that could be picked from every Zimbabwean exhibition table. Importantly, most visitors lauded the country for Zimparks’ unwavering commitment to managing and maintaining the country’s wildlife heritage in the most pristine of states. A number of the visitors commented that Zimbabwe’s wildlife packaged together with the must view Victoria Falls and the Great Zimbabwe monuments was a major draw card to Southern Africa.
